Fabienne van Eck - (1982, Holland) - Cello

born in Holland in 1982.

Fabienne started playing the cello at the age of six.
In 2005 she graduated from the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with a bachelor’s degree, after studying for four years with Lucia Swarts. Currently, Fabienne is studying with Harro Ruijsenaars for her master’s degree.

Throughout the years Fabienne has played in various orchestras in Holland and since 2005 serves as a replacement cellist in the Residence Orchestra of The Hague.
She has led the cello section in the Conservatory Symphony Orchestra several times and performed as a soloist with the “Bataafs Symphony Orchestra”.

Fabienne enjoys playing improvised and contemporary music and performed in 2003 with a quartet and as a soloist in the Steve Reich festival held in The Hague.
She has also performed several times where poems and text were combined with her solo cello improvisation.

She has attended numerous international festivals, and in 2005 performed a recital in the ‘Dordrecht Cello Festival’.
Fabienne has followed courses and master classes by: Anner Bijlsma, Uzi Wiesel, Valter Despalj, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Michel Strauss, Alexander Baillie, Quirine Vierssen, Shmuel Magen, and Hilel Zori.

In 2005 she performed in the New-York debut of the Reflex Ensemble, “Blowing Steam”.
